Kitchen Cabinets Refacing
What Is Kitchen Cabinet Refacing?
If you are planning to update the existing design of your kitchen cabinet to keep up with the trends, cabinet refacing is the best choice. A cabinet refacing is a process of stripping and replacing the door and drawer fronts or “skins” and applying a new veneer over the existing
surface of the body. This can sometimes include replacing the hardware like hinges, handles, and drawer pull.
Steps on How Refacing Works:
- Existing cabinet doors and drawers are removed; the fronts or "skins" are stripped off while the rest of the drawer boxes remain intact.
- The front part of the cabinet boxes is covered, either with RTF ( Rigid Thermofoil) or natural wood veneer.
- The cabinet sides are skinned with laminate or wood veneer.
- Reusing hinges that are in good condition or adding new door hinges.
- New drawer and door fronts are installed.
- Installing fixtures such as new handles, drawer pull, and other existing hardware that are in good condition and are still reusable.
- Optional installation of apparatus such as glass panels, lighting, crown molding, and storage accessories
